Drug overdose suspected in inmate death in Taylorsville
An inmate at Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville has died, and investigators have suggested that a drug overdose might have been the cause.
Justin Cauble, 31, was unresponsive when a guard found him in his cell around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. Attempts to resuscitate the inmate using CPR were not successful, according to a report from North Carolina Department of Public Safety.
The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation.
Cauble was serving a 10-year sentence as a habitual felon. He was convicted in Buncombe County in 2011, according to the report.
