Rowan County man charged in beating death of Texas woman
A Rowan County man was arrested and charged Tuesday in the March beating death of a 32-year-old woman in Dallas, Texas.
Eric Warren McLendon, 51, was in the Rowan County Detention Center without bail Wednesday awaiting extradition to Texas. He is charged with murder.
Police said evidence collected in the home where Comeagia Johnson was killed "matched" McLendon. Police are not saying what evidence they obtained or how McLendon knew the victim.
Sheriff's investigators said McLendon is a registered sex offender because of a rape conviction in Iowa.
