Police arrest Charlotte man in hit-and-run of pedestrian
Police have arrested a man in Thursday’s hit-and-run that critically injured a pedestrian on South Tryon Street at Sandy Porter Road in Steele Creek.
Police charged Roberto Alfredo Flores, 31, of Charlotte, with felony hit-and-run after receiving a tip on the whereabouts of the car suspected of hitting the pedestrian. Flores remained jailed Saturday on $25,000 bail.
Police said they found the 2004 Nissan Sentra in a parking lot in the 16000 block of Parasol Tree Place, also off South Tryon Street about 5 miles from where the pedestrian was hit. Police said they contacted the registered owner of the car, who identified the driver at the time of the crash.
The pedestrian, a white female, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said. She was in or near a crosswalk when she was hit at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Police have not released her name.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Detective R.C. Gormican at 704-336-2677 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
