Police made five driving-while-impaired arrests at a traffic safety checkpoint late Friday and early Saturday on Wilkinson Boulevard at the Mecklenburg-Gaston county line.
Four drivers were charged with having no license and three with driving with suspended licenses, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Sgt. Jesse Wood said. Police issued 34 total charges, including seven for drug-related offenses.
Twenty-seven officers from various law enforcement agencies assisted.
