Statesville man accused of inappropriately touching 5-year-old
An Iredell County man is accused of inappropriately touching a 5-year-old in a sexual manner.
Sheriff’s investigators charged Jamie Cliffton Jarvis, 32, of Statesville, with indecent liberties with a child. Jarvis was jailed on a $50,000 bail.
The child’s family reported the case to the sheriff’s office on Monday. Jarvis is a friend of the family, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a media release.
Before reporting the case, members of the victim’s family confronted Jarvis and assaulted him, Campbell said. Jarvis was treated and released at a local hospital for minor injuries, according to the sheriff. Campbell has not said whether charges in the assault on Jarvis are being considered.
