Driver arrested after leading authorities on chase in Rowan County

Police say a driver led them on a chase on I-85 in Rowan County Wednesday night that lasted for several miles with speeds reaching in excess of 125 mph.

Highway Patrol said a trooper was attempting to stop a driver that had been clocked going 114 mph, but the driver refused to stop.

Troopers, Salisbury Police officers and Rowan County Sheriff's deputies all joined in the pursuit that ended when the driver pulled over near Jake Alexander Boulevard.

The driver was arrested and a passenger in the car was released.

Officials have not released any further details about the driver or any charges they may be facing.
