Charlotte man charged in shooting death of relative
Police charged a 52-year-old man with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 26-year-old relative in east Charlotte early Saturday.
Donnelle Quinton McDonald was shot at about 12:30 a.m. after an argument in the 6900 block of Olde Savannah Road, off Albemarle Road, police said. McDonald was pronounced dead by Medic.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives arrested Gary Lavard Austin after taking him to police headquarters for an interview. Austin was jailed without bail and has a first court appearance at 1 p.m. Monday.
Police have not said how they believe the two are related. Police are not disclosing what McDonald and Austin argued about before the shooting.
