Police: Gastonia man’s death a homicide

Gastonia police said they are treating the death of a man whose wife found him unresponsive Tuesday morning as a homicide.

Police are not saying if they know how Tony Cook, 62, died in his home in the 700 block of North Vance Street. His wife found him after returning home at about 11:50 a.m., police said.

“After meeting with the medical examiner, the suspicious death was determined to be a homicide,” police said in a statement. “Detectives are in early stages of the investigation, and no further information is being released at this time.”
