Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s Jay M. Robinson Middle School and Union County’s Central Academy of Technology and Arts were among eight in North Carolina to claim 2016 Blue Ribbon School honors from the U.S. Department of Education.

Robinson, a south Charlotte neighborhood school, and Central Academy of Technology and Arts, a Monroe magnet high school, were honored for high scores on state exams.

Across the country, the department recognized 279 public and 50 private schools. They will be honored at a November reception in Arlington, Va.
