Colleen Perry Keith has been named the 10th president of Pfeiffer University, the school’s board of trustees announced Friday.
Since 2009, Keith has been president of Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, S.C. She starts at Pfeiffer on July 1.
Pfeiffer University is a private, liberal arts university affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Its traditional undergraduate campus is in Misenheimer, about 40 miles northeast of Charlotte in Stanly County, with additional locations in Charlotte and Morrisville near Raleigh.
Under Keith’s leadership, Spartanburg Methodist College updated its master and strategic plans, launched and completed a $15-million capital campaign, started two new academic programs, began construction, renovated existing space and acquired property for expansion.
Enhanced marketing efforts doubled inquiries from prospective students. Annual giving increased by 249 percent.
In 2010, Keith was named South Carolina Career Woman of the Year by the South Carolina Business and Professionals Woman’s Foundation.
Jerry Boone, former dean of student affairs, has been Pfeiffer’s interim president since Michael Miller announced his retirement in August.
