School districts will have delayed openings

Three school districts will have delayed openings this morning because of inclement weather, according to their websites.

Alleghany, Avery and Wilkes County Schools are on two-hour delays for students.

Avery County Schools has a one-hour delay for staff. The district also said that buses will not run on various gravel roads in the area, including Buck Mountain, White Pine, Old Beech Mountain and John Greer. Students instead will meet the buses at the predetermined pick-up points.
