Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has named long-time transportation director Carol Stamper to be the district’s new chief operating officer.
In the new role, Stamper will manage building services, construction, transportation and child nutrition. She had most recently served as associate superintendent for auxiliary services, and has been in charge of transportation at CMS since 1994.
The school board also approved a new chief human resources officer and two new principals Tuesday.
▪ Avery Mitchell was named chief human resources officer after filling in that position since December. She started with CMS in 1992 as a teacher at Carmel Middle.
▪ Shalan R. Fry was named principal at Highland Renaissance Academy. She had been at Matthews Elementary as an assistant principal for the past year, and dean of students at the school before that.
▪ Lynanne “Missy” Gabriel was named principal at Barnette Elementary. She had been an assistant principal at Bradley Middle.
