CMS names veteran educator as new principal of Myers Park High
Robert Folk will be the new principal at Myers Park High School, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced Tuesday night.
Folk has been serving as the principal at Alexander Graham Middle since 2010. He replaces former principal Mark Bosco who was moved to a new job in the district following a nearly-three month investigation and suspension prompted by student complaints that he and other leaders mishandled past reports of sexual assault and harassment on campus.
Bosco, who was at the helm of Myers Park for about eight years before being suspended in August, accepted a position as the senior administrator for expanded learning and partnerships in mid-October. Maureen Furr, the former, longtime principal of South Mecklenburg High School who retired in 2019, has been serving as interim principal at Myers Park since August.
Folk was principal at Coulwood Middle from 2006 to 2010 and assistant principal at Alexander Graham Middle from 2003 to 2006. Folk was the Comer facilitator from 2002 to 2003 and a principal intern from 2001 to 2002 at Myers Park High, as well as CMS partnership coordinator in 1998.
He was also a CMS teacher at Mayfield Alternative High in 1991 and Providence High from 1990-1991.
Folk earned a bachelor’s degree in health education from Appalachian State University. He also earned a master’s degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
