Three Fort Mill schools are under an enrollment freeze.

The Fort Mill School District announced the freezes at Gold Hill Elementary School, Gold Hill Middle School and Pleasant Knoll Middle School. The freeze doesn’t impact students attending those schools now.

New students who enroll within the boundaries that typically would send them to those schools will go elsewhere.

New Gold Hill Elementary-zoned students will be enrolled at Orchard Park Elementary School. Banks Trail Middle School will get students who would normally attend Gold Hill Middle. Students who would’ve joined Pleasant Knoll will be enrolled at Springfield Middle School or Banks Trail, depending on high school zoning.

Students who live in Pleasant Knoll areas set for Nation Ford High School will go to Sprinfield. Students who would matriculate from Pleasant Knoll to Fort Mill High School will go to Banks Trail.

In the announcement, the district indicated the move is to maintain favorable student-teacher ratios and limit overcrowding in buildings.

“The freezes were enacted due to the growing student population as a result of new growth and development in the area,” it reads.

Students will still use their assigned buses. The district will shuttle students to and from their home schools where the freezes are in place, to the new schools where students will be enrolled.
