Three students were injured in a crash involving a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus Wednesday in south Charlotte, authorities confirmed with The Charlotte Observer.

Emergency personnel responded to the multi-vehicle crash just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the 8300 block of Sharon Lakes Road, according to Medic 911.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools confirmed that three students were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

CMS officials told the Observer a car ran into the side of a bus transporting students to Sterling Elementary. The bus driver was not at fault, according to CMS.

There were 29 students on the bus at the time of the crash. Besides the three students with minor injuries, the others are in school.

Another school bus was able to transport the remaining students to school.
