‘Extremely caring’ middle school teacher dies after his vehicle crashes into tree
Staff and students are mourning the death of a Concord Middle School teacher and coach who died in a car crash over the weekend.
Kendall Bost, who is listed as a social studies teacher on the school’s directory, died when he crashed into a tree on Harris Street on Saturday night, WSOC TV reported.
The report also said that no one else was involved in the crash, which is under investigation.
“Mr. Bost had a tremendous personality and lit up the room with his presence. He was extremely caring for students, staff, family, and friends,” said Concord Middle School Principal Christopher Jonassen in a statement Tuesday. “We remember Mr. Bost as a great teacher and for his dedication to his students, his calm and inquisitive personality, and his ability to make people laugh and smile. Mr. Bost will be missed, but never forgotten.”
The statement also said the school will, “continue to provide support for our students and staff, and we ask that everyone keep our school family, and more importantly, the Bost family in your thoughts and prayers moving forward. We thank our school community and our school district for continued support of Concord Middle School during this difficult time.”
Concord Middle School wrote about Bost’s time as a teacher and staff member in a Facebook post:
“We tragically lost one of our teachers on Saturday night,” the post said. “Kendall Bost was a young and respected role model for our students. He was a tremendous friend to our staff. His impact will continue to touch the lives of us all. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this loss. Please keep Kendall’s family and the CMS community in your thoughts.”
A video was included with the statement on social media, and included images of Bost during his time at the school. At the end, images appeared of messages students wrote to Bost on posters and displayed in the school.
The Concord community ‘lost a great one’
The Concord High Athletic Boosters also took to Facebook to discuss Bost:
“The community of Concord lost a great one. Kendall Bost played at Concord High and went on to teach and coach at Concord Middle. He worked hard to nurture and lift up the kids at CMS, especially the young men. He will be missed, but the mark he made on the these young men will never be forgotten.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Bost’s family with funeral costs.
