Randolph Middle School principal suspended with pay, CMS records show
Randolph Middle School Principal Jennifer Schroeder was suspended with pay May 20, according to district records.
No reason has been given for the suspension, but parents were notified Schroeder was “away from campus at this time,” Wednesday afternoon. The email, which a parent shared with The Charlotte Observer, did not specify that Schroeder was suspended despite district records indicating that to be the case.
“Janice Davidson, an experienced CMS principal, is providing additional administrative support,” Jennifer Dean, an assistant superintendent for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, wrote in the message to parents Wednesday. “She is teamed with Assistant Principal Dr. Micah Griffith.”
Dean assured that the change “will not affect the daily operations of the school.”
The language in the Randolph Middle School email is similar to what parents at Ardrey Kell High received last week. There, parents criticized CMS after they learned their school’s principal, Jamie Brooks, was “away for a period.” They did not learn she had been suspended May 2 until news outlets reported it Tuesday. Parents have called for more transparency from the district.
Schroeder has served as Randolph’s principal since 2024. Prior to that, she was the principal of Crestdale Middle School from 2017 to 2024 and assistant principal at Ardrey Kell High School from 2013 to 2017. She’s been employed by CMS since 2004.
