Back to school bonanza: Free OTC meds and school supplies
Families struggling with back-to-school expenses can get a double dose of help Friday as two agencies team up to distribute pharmacy and school supplies in Charlotte.
NC MedAssist, a nonprofit pharmacy program, will give away over-the-counter medications and first-aid supplies to anyone who can’t afford them. A Child’s Place, an agency that helps homeless students, is also offering school supplies for families with school-age children.
The event will be at the Children and Family Services Center, 601 E. Fifth St., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28. No preregistration is needed; for more information, http://medassist.org/ or 704-536-1790.
MedAssist is also seeking volunteers to help with sorting and monthly distributions. Volunteers can contact Tonia Harris, 704-350-3574 or tharris@medassist.org.
