The League of Women Voters is hosting a forum Saturday to update the public on Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ student assignment review.
The school board is working on guiding principles for changes that will take effect in 2017-18. Board member Tom Tate, who chairs the committee handling that work, is one of the forum speakers.
Others are Matt Ellenwood, a policy analyst at the N.C. Justice Center, and Roslyn Mickelson, a UNC Charlotte sociology professor and co-editor of “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: School Desegregation and Resegregation in Charlotte.”
The forum is 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the YWCA, 3420 Park Road. Details and RSVP: Mary Klenz, firstname.lastname@example.org or 704-542-9858.
