CMS school board extends 10 administrators’ contracts for stability
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board unanimously approved one-year contract extensions for 10 top administrators Tuesday, with questions about how the board will handle the top job still unanswered.
Superintendent Ann Clark, whose 18-month contract ends in July, said granting extensions for chiefs, assistant superintendents and other high-level staff “is an opportunity to provide stability on our leadership team” while the board decides next steps on the superintendency. The new contracts move the end date to June 30, 2017, but don’t change compensation.
The school board has scheduled an all-day retreat for Jan. 22. Chairman Mary McCray said Tuesday an agenda will be released soon.
The superintendent search is expected to be one focus of that session.
