South Charlotte, East Lincoln win middle school honors
South Charlotte and East Lincoln middle schools have been named 2016 Schools to Watch, an honor designed to recognize middle schools that have strong academics and programs appropriate for adolescents.
The National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform created the program in 1999. The two Charlotte-area schools were among the early North Carolina schools to earn the honor in 2004. Schools have to reapply every three years to maintain their place on the list, and both were renewed for a fourth time this year. Ann Doss Helms
