Charter school opening in Iredell County names principal

Iredell Charter Academy, opening in August in Troutman, has named a Florida charter school educator to lead the new school.

Andrea Lopresti was most recently assistant principal at Renaissance Charter School at Tradition, a planned community in Port St. Lucie, Fla. She has also been head of Tathva International School in Tokyo.

Iredell Charter, part of the Charter Schools USA chain, will open with grades K-6 and expand to K-8. Charter schools are public schools run by nonprofit boards and can take students across county lines.
