Invest Collegiate: Transform, a Charlotte charter school, has hired Danah Telfaire from Washington, D.C., to lead the school.

Telfaire has been an education specialist and turnaround principal for Imagine Schools, a charter chain with schools in 12 states. Most recently she worked for Fight for Children / Joe’s Champs, an early childhood education program.

The K-8 charter school in uptown Charlotte opened in 2013. This spring it was placed on a state list of charter schools at risk of low performance, based on financial and academic issues, and the school has delayed plans to add high school. A statement from the board says Telfaire will be instrumental in providing “the instructional, operational, and administrative leadership necessary to ensure the success of the school.”
