Many in Charlotte are bracing for the season’s first deep freeze as temperatures in the area are expected to plummet in the coming days.

Low temperatures for each day between Wednesday and Sunday are expected to be in the low 30s, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Charlotte.

If you’re in need of a warm place to escape below-freezing temperatures, These facilities will be open in Charlotte.

Roof Above

The Day Services Center at Roof Above, 945 N. College St., offers daily lunches, showers, laundry and medical support to those experiencing homelessness. The organization also runs three men’s shelters that are open year-round.

The Salvation Army Center of Hope

The Salvation Army Center of Hope, 534 Spratt Street, provides three daily meals, case management, intervention programs, health care and access to resources for women and children. The program is free and open to all Mecklenburg County residents.

Mecklenburg County shelter options

Public facilities, such as recreation and senior centers are open during normal business hours for those in need of a warm place to shelter during the day, a spokesperson for Mecklenburg County told The Charlotte Observer.
