Use this interactive tracker to keep up with gas prices in Charlotte this summer
Summer road trip season is arriving in the Carolinas, and so far drivers are feeling some relief at the pump compared to last summer’s wallet-squeezing gas prices.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in North Carolina as of Monday was $3.34, per AAA. That’s less than the national average of $3.55.
In Mecklenburg County, AAA says, the average as of Monday was $3.36.
Those numbers are down from much of 2022, when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and other factors drove averages above $4 per gallon in North Carolina and beyond. The state’s average for a gallon of regular gas has fallen more than a $1 since June 2022, according to AAA’s data.
