Here’s what to know about the prices for some summer grocery staples at Charlotte-area grocery stores:
Hot dogs, hamburgers and buns
A pack of Ball Park brand bun-length hot dogs will set you back $4.49 at Harris Teeter, according to the store’s website. At Walmart, the same pack will cost you $3.97. And at Food Lion, it’s $2.44 a pack for the hot dogs.

If your family and friends prefer hamburgers off the grill, a pound of ground beef costs $3.49 at Harris Teeter, $3.97 at Walmart, or $5.29 at Food Lion.
Toppings and sides
You can get a 38-ounce. bottle of Heinz ketchup for $6.49 at Harris Teeter, $4.48 at Walmart, or $3.99 at Food Lion.
If you want some chips to go with your hot dogs and hamburgers, pick up a party-size bag of Lay’s Classic for $4.99 at Harris Teeter, $4.98 at Walmart, or $5.79 at Food Lion.
And you can serve up a 32 oz. tub of store-brand potato salad for $5.99 at Harris Teeter, $2.98 at Walmart, or $5.49 at Food Lion.
Drinks and desserts
If you want to treat your guests to something sweet at your cookout, pick up a dozen cupcakes from the Harris Teeter bakery for $7.99, Walmart’s bakery for $7.97, or Food Lion’s bakery for $8.79.
