Football showdown between Mooresville, Lake Norman in the spotlight
Lake Norman (7-2, 3-2 Greater Metro 4 4A) at No. 15 Mooresville (8-1, 5-0), 7:30 p.m. – Fans of each school refer to the opponent as “that other team.” Both teams are playoff-bound, and Lake Norman would love to ruin Mooresville’s hopes of finishing alone in first place. Both teams have strong ground games. Mooresville RB Jawarn Howell carried 21 times for 135 yards last week. Freshman RB Mozes Morris looks like a star of the future for Lake Norman, with 500-plus rushing yards this season.
Jack Smith, Pine Lake Prep — In a 49-14 win over Lake Norman Charter, Smith had six total tackles, 4.5 for a loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
