Attend a free Black History Month celebration of the 50th anniversary of Smithville’s annexation by the town of Cornelius. The event, called “Smithville Was. Smithville Is. Smithville Will BE,” will include musical performances by Union Bethel AME Zion Church and Torrence Chapel AME Zion Church; a poetry reading by Maurice J. Norman; an art exhibit by John R. Miles III; a performance by Drums 4 Life; and children’s activities. Keynote speakers will be Ron Potts, Sammie Knox, Raquel Ramseur and Lisa Mayhew-Jones of the Smithville CommUNITY Coalition. Experience a Murder Mystery performance at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in Mooresville. Unlike most other shows, the action will unfold all around you and guests could become part of the story. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. 215 N. Main St, Mooresville, NC 28115.

Catch some Sunday basketball on the Birkdale Village Big Screen. The 10x18 LED screen is out at the community area through October for residents to enjoy games, series and tournaments. Screenings are free for all visitors, and seating is open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Phoenix Suns vs. the Milwaukee Bucks game starts at 1 p.m., and the Los Angeles Lakers vs. the Dallas Mavericks game starts at 3:30 p.m. 8712 Lindholm Drive, #202, Huntersville, NC 28078.

Join Old Town Public House for a Jazz Jam. Stop and smell the roses, then make a bouquet at Bentley’s Flower Truck Pop-Up at Birkdale Village. You can choose as many flowers as you’d like to be wrapped up to take home.
