2. Will Lake Norman vacation home rentals get new rules, more red tape?
A proposed amendment to Lincoln County’s Unified Development Ordinance, discussed at Monday’s Board of Commissioners meeting, would require rental owners to obtain zoning permits for their properties. If the amendment passes, permits would be approved only in residential zoning districts.

City Council candidates in Charlotte’s most closely watched race clashed Tuesday over how to address panhandling in a forum hosted by the Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Mary Ramsey with your takeaways from the forum.
4. NCHSAA commissioner fears ‘wild, wild West’ in high school sports under new state law
The phrase “wild, wild West” kept coming up Tuesday, when North Carolina High School Athletic Association commissioner Que Tucker talked about the impact of legislation that took effect a day earlier. “I would like to think our membership won’t allow this to become the wild, wild West,” Tucker said in a news conference, talking about legislation that went into effect Monday and strips away power from the NCHSAA.
