‘Empire’ actress accused in drunk driving crash, California cops say
An actress in the television show “Empire” faces charges of drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident after a solo crash Sunday evening, say police in Chico, California.
Amanda Detmer, 48, who plays Tracy in the TV show, also has appeared in the films “The Majestic” and “Final Destination,” among others, according to IMDB.
She is a native of Chico, a mostly rural community of 86,000 people about 90 miles north of Sacramento.
Detmer struck a utility pole at 5:13 p.m. at East Eighth Street and Flume Street in Chico, then left the scene, police wrote on Facebook.
Officers found her driving down East Ninth Street in a vehicle with a heavily damaged front end, police wrote.
Fellow “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett has sued the city of Chicago after he was accused of faking a hate-crime assault on himself in January, The Washington Post reported. Those charges were later dropped.
