Popeyes chicken sandwiches are free this week — and you don’t have to stand in line
The fast-food sensation that sold out in just over two weeks last year before making a full-time comeback in November is now available for free.
Popeyes’ elusive chicken sandwich prompted a slew of “disturbing incidents” involving body slamming, an all-out brawl and at least one fatality when it returned to the Popeyes’ menu full time on Nov. 3.
Now its creator is teaming up with the food delivery service DoorDash.
According to an announcement Monday, DoorDash is partnering with 1,000 Popeyes locations to deliver a free chicken sandwich combo from Jan. 13-19. That includes the sandwich, a signature side and a small drink.
“In case you were too busy watching all the best picture nominees over the past few months, the Chicken Sandwich is up for the Best Performance by a Chicken Sandwich of the year after quickly selling out and becoming a cultural phenomenon,” DoorDash said in its announcement. “And it’s the only thing we’re eating this awards season.”
To redeem with a $0 delivery fee, enter the code “CHICKENWINNER” at checkout.
But is anything ever really free?
Here are the terms and conditions:
1. It’s while supplies last. Given that Popeyes already ran out of chicken sandwiches once, it’s safe to assume this might not last the week.
2. You have to buy other stuff. Customers are eligible to redeem a free chicken sandwich combo on orders over $20 from DoorDash, and that’s excluding taxes and fees.
3. It must be for delivery. No pick-ups or dine-ins.
