Dental surgeon accused of child porn also tried to buy young kids, California cops say
A dental surgeon based in Oakland and the East Bay Area of California faces a slew of child sex crime charges, The Mercury News reports.
Among other things, police say Dr. Cassidy Lavorini-Doyle, 36, tried to buy two children for $30,000 and raped a 10-year-old girl on video, KNTV reported.
Lavorini-Doyle, who was arrested in December, has pleaded not guilty to seven felony counts, The San Francisco Chronicle reported. No trial date has been set.
Charges include human trafficking of a minor for a sex act, child molestation and using a minor for sex, KNTV reported.
On Dec. 6, Lavorini-Doyle tried to pull a young woman dumping trash outside a Walnut Creek office into his car, The Mercury News reported. He then offered her $30,000 for her two 12-year-old daughters, police say.
He was briefly detained by police but then released, KNTV reported. Five days later, U.S. Homeland Security officers arrested him on suspicion of possessing more than 100 child porn videos, including one reportedly showing him raping a 10-year-old girl, court documents say.
The California Dental Board says it is aware of the allegations against Lavorini-Doyle and is investigating, The San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The investigation of Lavorini-Doyle is “still very active,” officials with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office say, according to the publication.
