Ohio man convicted of raping 2 girls at wife’s daycare sentenced to decades in prison

An Ohio man who pleaded guilty in January to raping two young girls at his wife’s in-home daycare was sentenced to 22 years in prison Tuesday, according to police and media reports.

The girls were 4 and 6 years old when they were in the care of Terry McFadden, Franklin County prosecutor Ron O’Brien told WCMH. The rapes occurred in April 2019 and September 2018 at a Grandview Heights home daycare, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Grandview Heights is a suburb of Columbus.

He was arrested in April after the Franklin County Children’s Services received a report of “possible inappropriate sexual contact,” the City of Grandview Heights wrote in a blog post. Other children were removed from his care at the daycare following the report, the city said.

Judge Julie Lynch said Wednesday there are “no free rapes” when passing her sentence to the 70-year-old McFadden, according to WSYX video from the courtroom.

“This court is so sick and tired of seeing adults ruin and abuse children.” Lynch said. “These are literally just one step from being babies.”

A parent of one of the victims said in a statement Tuesday that McFadden “is no co-parent, no warrior, no citizen,” according to WBNS.

“You are not welcome back into humanity ever again, Terry McFadden,” the father added.

After he is released from prison, McFadden will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to WSYX.

A mother of a victim said “we are incredibly proud of our beautiful daughters for the bravery in speaking out,” WSYX reported.
