Man ‘befriended’ women at tornado shelter to sexually assault them, Tennessee cops say
A Tennessee man is accused of sexually assaulting two women at a shelter for tornado victims in Nashville.
The women were staying at the Centennial Sportsplex, which has been open as a shelter since deadly tornadoes tore through the area last week, police say.
Cory Sullivan, 45, who was also staying at shelter, took an immediate interest in the two women, police said in arrest records. The women reportedly told police that Sullivan slept on the cot next to theirs and tried to “befriend” them and buy them food on Sunday.
They told police that throughout the day, Sullivan touched them inappropriately.
At one point, he walked with them to a nearby pizza restaurant and tried to kiss them and touch their butts multiple times, arrest records allege. When they got back to the shelter, the women said, he kissed and groped them while they were on their cots despite them telling him to stop.
Sullivan is also accused of pulling the women’s heads back by their hair and forcing suboxone strips into their mouths.
The women told police at the shelter what was going on, arrest records show. Sullivan was arrested early Monday and charged with sexual battery and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
