‘Best day ever!’ Little Debbie fans rejoice at news of Oatmeal Creme Pies cereal
Little Debbie is marrying breakfast cereal with one of its most popular snack cakes, and fans are clamoring to give it a try.
The dessert company confirmed the cereal-snack combo on social media Tuesday, announcing the launch of its new Oatmeal Creme Pies Cereal. The brand teamed up with Kellogg’s for the creation meant to celebrate Little Debbie’s 60th anniversary, according to USA TODAY.
“Yes, that’s right there will be Oatmeal Creme Pies cereal!” the brand wrote on its Facebook and Instagram pages alongside a photo of the new breakfast cereal. “Stay tuned to our social media for more details.”
News of the launch was met with excitement from snack cake lovers ready to sink their teeth into the new breakfast staple.
“This has to be a joke,” one Facebook user commented. “I cannot wait to try this!!! Best day ever!!!”
“I’m pretty sure I just gained 5lbs by looking at this because it is going to be amazing!” another wrote.
Fellow fans of the iconic childhood treat also rejoiced, calling the Oatmeal Creme Pie cereal “THE greatest thing to happen in 2020.”
Others, however, weren’t quite sure what to make of the new treat.
“This is my favorite cake but I don’t knowwww,” one person tweeted.
“This is my fave snack cake but I can’t imagine it as cereal. But I’ll try it,” another added.
The new breakfast cereal is described as “crispy oatmeal puffs” coated in a sweet creme-flavored frosting. It’s reminiscent of a spiced holiday cookie “made with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of molasses,” according to Delish.com
A 9.1 oz. box of the cookie bits will cost you $3.99 while a 14.5-ounce box will retail for $5.69, a Kellogg’s representative confirmed to the food website.
McClatchy News reached out to Little Debbie and Kellogg’s for more information and is awaiting response.
