Enchanted penthouse on market in Texas for $7.2 million. What makes it so special?
A ginormous, 15,076-square-foot penthouse that’s hit the real estate market in San Antonio for $7.25 million has people talking thanks to a previous owner — who had an eye for art.
The entire building, along with its two-story dazzling two-story penthouse, was purchased by art collector and philanthropist Linda Pace, with a luxury condo designed specifically for her art collection.
“Suited to showcase the most sought after collections, the home also has auxiliary art storage compromised of over 2, 000 feet completely separate from the unit,” the listing on Realtor.com says.
“Private elevator and cargo elevators take you directly into each floor of the residence, where you are greeted with soaring ceilings, contemporary finishes, and expansive spaces throughout for living and entertaining.”
Before Pace bought the building in 2001, the building was occupied by different businesses, but was left vacant for years, Realtor.com reported.
“She renovated this building and converted it to be a very prestigious residential building,” listing agent Michael Reisor with Douglas Elliman Real Estate, told Realtor. “It’s a very unique space, with an industrial loft feel.”
Pace passed away in 2007 but the estate is still considered “the crown jewel” luxury building in Central Texas and the 6-bedroom, 7.5-plus-bathroom condo is the perfect oasis for an art lover, Realtor says.
“Every wall is backed by 1-inch thick plywood, to be able to hang art. The white really emphasizes that gallery feel,” Reisor said. “The (current) owner did a good job of warming it up with the furnishings, and the art, and the objects that are currently in there. It’s really just a blank canvas.”
