10-year-old boy reported missing after school drop-off is found safe, Memphis police say

Chase Smith, 10, has been found safe after he was reported missing Wednesday, multiple news outlets report, citing Memphis police.
McClatchy News reached out to the police department Thursday and is awaiting a response.
Authorities have not said where he was found.
Smith was last seen Wednesday morning after he was dropped off at Westside Elementary School. In a statement, the school district confirmed the 10-year-old attended classes that day and was dismissed at 3:15 p.m.
“Westside Elementary administrators were not notified by guardians or family that the student was reported missing (after dismissal),” a Shelby County Schools spokesperson told McClatchy News. “However, based on recent reports, we are grateful to learn that he has been safely located.”

Tennessee authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a 10-year-old boy who was last seen after being dropped off at school early Wednesday.
Chase Smith was dropped off in the 3300 block of Dawn Drive around 8 a.m., WATN reported, citing Memphis police. Authorities did not identify which school, but a Google Maps search shows Westside Elementary is located on the same block.

It’s unclear who dropped Chase off at school.
Authorities said Chase was last seen wearing a gray Under Armour shirt with a neon “X” on the front, gray pants, and orange and white Nike sneakers, according to WHBQ. He’s 4′11” and weighs about 95 pounds.
