A gun store in Duluth, Georgia, erupted with the sound of gunfire during an argument between the owner and an employee, according to media reports.

Duluth Police said officers were on scene responding to a call around 3:40 p.m. on Jan. 26 regarding a person shot at the Gun Lobby store on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard..

The shooting took place during a dispute between the owner and an employee of the gun shop when the employee felt threatened, police told 11Alive. After the employee drew their gun and shot the store owner twice, police said, they remained on scene and called authorities.

Police told WSB-TV that store employees immediately began to give medical attention to the owner, who was shot at least once in the arm. The store owner was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Even though the employee was not shot, he was transported to the hospital for a heart condition, according to WSB-TV.

Brandy Harris, who works in the same plaza as the gun shop, told 11Alive that the area is typically very quiet, aside from a few break-ins through the years, and that she was familiar with the Gun Lobby staff.

“I’ve been in there twice to buy ammo myself. Really knowledgeable, really easygoing, really nice people,” Harris told 11Alive. “There are a lot of retired people back here, families. It’s really quiet,”

Gun Lobby is registered as a Federal Firearms licensee, according to its website. It is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, which has no reviews or complaints of the shop listed online.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities have not determined whether charges are appropriate, Duluth Police Spokesperson Ted Sadowski told McClatchy News.
