‘Dream house’ for sale in Florida captivates Zillow Gone Wild. Come see why
A home for sale in Sarasota, Florida, for $899,000 is a little bit of a technicolor throwback on the inside, and a popular social media real estate page has taken a huge interest.
The three-bedroom, one-bathroom residence has retro decor throughout its 1,268 square feet and was modeled after another building not far from it.
“Welcome to this marvel of Sarasota Mid Century architecture,” the listing on Zillow.com says. “The home was featured in the March/April 2021 issue of Sarasota Magazine. Inspired by the circular design of The Hilton Leech Art Studio 2 miles away, this home has been meticulously renovated from top to bottom.”
The complete renovation included the removal of a wall that helped create a larger primary bedroom (the listing says the wall can be put back to make two bedrooms again) and a restored kitchen with vintage appliances.
Other updates include:
New roof
New air conditioner
Renovated bathroom
Impact windows
Front door/side door
Exterior paint
Wi-Fi LED smart lights
The house caught the attention of fans of Zillow Gone Wild, a social media page that posts unique homes for sale. It has over 24,000 likes on Facebook and over 118,000 likes on Twitter as of Monday, May 2— the most likes a home has ever gotten, according to a tweet.
“This is absolutely, amazingly perfect,” one person said on Facebook. “I can’t believe this actually exists!”
“I love it, it is (gorgeous). it needs a pool/tiki bar out back, but it’s amazing,” another person gushed. “If I had the money to burn I would buy it right now.”
“That better come fully furnished - it’s perfectly done & you’ll never be able top it,” one person said. “Reminds me of Universal’s Cabana Bay hotel.”
“This a googie, pop-luxe, ‘Jetsons,’ World’s Fair ‘Home of Tomorrow’ paradise!” someone compared. “LOL! Feels frozen in time.”
People who follow the Twitter account @ZillowGoneWild also fell in love with the “dream home.”
“I had to click the listing to see what was in the chewy nougat center,” one person tweeted about the shower. “I was not disappointed.”
“Non zero chance the center of that house is in fact either a missile silo or an elevator descending into a secret gov lab of some sort,” another joked.
But what really caught the attention of some Twitter fans were the “before” photos of the house taken by Google Earth a few years prior — along with a significant price jump.
Sarasota is about 60 miles south of Tampa.
