A woman was hiking when she tumbled down a waterfall, plunging 150-feet into a gorge in central New York, state police say.
Several rescue teams trekked one mile through the woods near a creek to reach the 32-year-old hiker in Cherry Valley around 5 p.m. Sept. 3 in Cherry Valley., according to a Sept. 5 news release.
The woman, of Troy, had several injuries as a result of the fall, authorities say. EMS provided first aid when they reached her.
Rescuers were seen hoisting the hiker up the gorge’s slope on a stretcher in photos shared by state police.
After the woman was pulled “to safety,” she was airlifted to a hospital in Albany, according to the release. Ultimately, she was later released from the facility.
While police did not say what waterfall the hiker had fallen from, there is a roughly 200-foot waterfall in Cherry Valley called Judds Falls.
Cherry Valley is about 60 miles west from Albany.
