Woman nearly throws her $1 million lottery ticket in trash at Missouri gas station
A winning lottery ticket sat in a Missouri woman’s car for two days before she nearly threw it away, according to state lottery officials.
Minutes before she tossed it in the trash, the woman decided to check her “Millionaire Blowout” Scratchers game ticket.
“I stopped at the gas station to check my ticket, just to make sure I wasn’t throwing away any winners,” she told the Missouri Lottery. “I scanned the ticket, and it said I won $1 million, visit the Lottery office.”
In shock, she decided to scan the ticket a couple more times to ensure it wasn’t a glitch, according to a Sept. 9 news release.
“I thought maybe it was wrong, but it kept saying I was a winner,” she said. “I won $1 million!”
The winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Mehlville, a suburb of the St. Louis metropolitan area.
“I couldn’t believe this was real,” she said.
