23-year-old nursing student killed in Louisiana crash. ‘He was truly a light’
A 23-year-old nursing student died in a crash when a truck rear-ended him, police in Louisiana said.
John Anthony Danté Daniels was stopped at a red light on Nov. 12 when a 2018 Toyota Tundra crashed into the back of Daniel’s vehicle, causing it to crash into a Toyota Prius that was stopped in front of him, Louisiana State Police said in a news release.
Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Tundra sustained moderate injuries, according to the release. The driver of the Prius sustained minor injuries.
Family and friends shared memories and condolences for Daniels, who was attending the Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge for nursing, according to his Facebook profile.
“My heart is hurting so bad. Please pray for me and my family,” one family member wrote. “I love and miss you… I wish I had more time with you.”
Students and peers noted that Daniels was “truly a light” and helped cheer people up.
“We are totally heart broken,” one community member wrote on Facebook. “You not only touched my little family’s life but you touched our community! If you knew John you knew his infectious smile and laughter, you knew this love, and hard work.”
Daniels worked as a server at the restaurant Que Pasa, which posted on Facebook after his death. In the comments, dozens of customers remembered their interactions with Daniels.
“He was a good son, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all of us,” Que Pasa wrote.
Louisiana State Police are investigating the crash, according to its release.
