Dad’s fight with his son ends with one shot in restaurant parking lot, Georgia cops say
A family fight at an Atlanta-area restaurant ended with a dad shooting his son in the parking lot, authorities in Georgia said.
Now Stanley Jarrett, 64, faces multiple charges including aggravated assault and reckless conduct, according to the Adairsville Police Department.
It happened around 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, outside the Blue Agave restaurant, police said. Investigators believe the dispute started inside the business and spilled out into the parking lot.
“A few moments later the argument resulted in the father producing a pistol and shooting his son,” hitting him in the forearm and abdomen, according to a news release. Authorities said witnesses called 911.
Jarrett’s 40-year-old son was rushed to a hospital for surgery and is recovering in the ICU. His condition wasn’t known as of Monday, Feb. 6.
It’s unclear what led to the argument, and police said the shooting remains under investigation.
Jarrett, who was arrested at the scene of the shooting, remained in the Bartow County Jail as of Feb. 6, online records show.
Adairsville is about 60 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
