Lottery player wins second huge Maryland prize — and credits his long hair
More than seven years after taking home a $100,000 Maryland Lottery prize, William Daniels Jr. got lucky again — and he thinks he knows how.
The 31-year-old aircraft assembly worker, who said he buys scratch-offs whenever he has a few extra dollars, won a $50,000 prize with a Gold X50 ticket, according to a March 9 Maryland Lottery news release. And he credits his hairstyle for his big win.
In November 2015, when Daniels won his $100,000 prize, he had a longer hairstyle, he told officials. He had short hair in the years that followed, but recently began growing his hair out again.
“I’m going to stick with long hair when I play scratch-offs,” Daniels told officials.
Even though Daniels is a second-time winner, he was still shocked to see his prize.
“When you hit it, you are in disbelief. You want to make sure you are not looking at it wrong,” he said, according to the release.
Daniels, who lives in Baltimore County, said he has big plans for his prize: paying off wedding bills, according to officials. He used his first prize to buy a house.
The winning ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven in Nottingham, Maryland, about 50 miles northeast of Washington, D.C.
