Buc-ee’s biggest Southeast store opens near Great Smoky Mountains. Take a look around

The convenience store chain Buc-ee’s opened its biggest location in the Southeast — and shoppers flocked to see the Tennessee store, photos show.

Cars were seen lining gas pumps as visitors passed shelves lined with merchandise. And of course, there were opportunities to take photos with the chain’s beaver mascot, according to posts from the June 26 grand opening near Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The store, which boasts at least 74,000 square feet of space and 120 gas pumps, was expected to be the biggest Buc-ee’s store in the world when it opened, according the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce and a May 31 news release.

The new Buc-ee’s is in Kodak off Interstate 40, in the Sevierville area. The store is roughly 25 miles north of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which sits on the North Carolina border and is the most popular national park.

Buc-ee’s didn’t immediately share additional information with McClatchy News on June 27. Check out more scenes from the opening:
