A lottery player decided he wanted to try a game “he doesn’t normally play” and ended up scoring big, Missouri officials said.

The man bought the $50 ticket at Phillips 66 in Independence, according to a June 30 news release by the Missouri Lottery. He had no clue he had won $1 million.

“I usually just play the $10 games, but I thought I’d give it a try,” the player told lottery officials.

The “Millionaire Blowout” player initially thought he had won $1,000 but “kept counting more zeros,” the release said.

“I was shocked,” he told officials. “I was really shocked!”

The Missouri Lottery didn’t say what the winner is going to do with his newfound wealth.

Independence is about 10 miles east of Kansas City.
