Lottery player’s September luck continues with six-figure jackpot prize in Nebraska
Winning the lottery is not a new thing for Ryan Voss — he’s pulled off multiple big September wins.
But his latest lottery ticket purchase ended up being his biggest prize yet.
Voss told Nebraska Lottery officials he won $5,000 on a lottery game in September 2022 and $2,022 in a drawing in September 2021.
Now he has a $250,000 jackpot win under his name.
Voss purchased a Nebraska Pick 5 ticket Sept. 6 at a convenience store in Grand Island, and it matched that night’s winning numbers — 08, 14, 26, 35 and 38 — to win the $250,000 prize.
Officials said Voss plays the lottery daily. He’s won $450 “about 75 times,” and after upgrades to the game in August, he quickly scored the new $500 prize.
It won’t lead to a nickname change, though.
“My nickname at the store is 450,” he told lottery officials. “Some people asked me if I wanted to be 500 now, but 450 is fine with me.”
Voss said he plans to buy a new pickup truck with his winnings.
Nebraska Pick 5, which costs $1 to play, offers a jackpot beginning at $50,000 that increases by $10,000 daily until it is won. Odds of winning the jackpot are 1-in-658,008.
Grand Island is about 95 miles west of Lincoln.
