Mailing holiday gifts? This is the latest you can ship presents in time for Christmas
The countdown to Christmas is on, and time is running out if you want to mail any gifts for the holiday.
With Christmas falling on a Monday, some postal carriers have specific operation schedules to get mail delivered by the holiday.
Whether you’re sending a Christmas card or a care package, these are the holiday shipping and mailing deadlines for getting presents mailed out by Christmas:
FedEx
These are the the last days to ship your packages to make sure they arrive on or before December 24:
FedEx Ground: Dec. 15
FedEx Express Saver: Dec. 19
2Day & 2Day AM: Dec. 20
First Overnight and Priority Overnight: Dec. 21
FedEx SameDay: Dec. 22
FedEx services will not be available on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Normal operations will resume on Dec. 26.
United Parcel Service (UPS)
These are the last days UPS recommends you ship your packages to make sure they are delivered by Dec. 23:
UPS 3 Day Select: Dec. 19
UPS 2nd Day Air services: Dec. 20
UPS Next Day Air services: Dec. 21
There will not be UPS pickup or delivery service available on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. UPS Express Critical service will be available if you call 1-800-714-8779 or visit upsexpresscritical.com/cfw/. Normal pickup and delivery service will resume on Dec. 26.
U.S. Postal Service
In most states, excluding Alaska and Hawaii, these are the deadlines for sending out cards, letters and packages to be delivered by Dec. 15:
USPS Ground Advantage: Dec. 16
First-Class Mail (including greeting cards): Dec. 16
Priority Mail: Dec. 18
Priority Mail Express: Dec. 20
All USPS branches will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Post Offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume on Dec. 26.
