An accused thief broke into a Memphis business overnight by making a hole in the wall, Tennessee police say.

Officers responded to a burglary call at a Dollar General at about 4:20 a.m. on Jan. 27, the Memphis Police Department said in a news release the next day.

They found a man had gotten into the business after hours by making a hole in the exterior wall, officers reported.

Once he got in, he began loading several thousand dollars’ worth of merchandise in bags, then fled, police said.

Surveillance footage from inside the Dollar General shows him passing through the store holding different bags.

Memphis police put out an alert for the man on Jan. 28 asking the public for help identifying and locating him. He was the only person involved in the incident, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH. No arrests have been made as of Jan. 30, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
