Preschool teacher stops for coffee and a lottery ticket — then wins big in Washington
A preschool teacher was running errands with her mom when she stopped for coffee and a lottery ticket in Washington.
She ended up winning $200,000.
The Edmonds woman was at a Safeway when she decided to use $10 she had previously won to buy another ticket, Washington’s Lottery said in a May 31 news release.
She got a Cash Stacks game from the vending machine and left the store, lottery officials said.
Then she remembered her lottery ticket while watching TV later that night.
“When she saw one of her numbers matched the winning number on the ticket for the $200,000 prize, she was in disbelief,” lottery officials said.
The teacher used her lottery app to double-check the ticket and had her mom look over it.
“They both were speechless,” lottery officials said.
Now she plans to use some of the prize money on a new car and on a trip to Ireland.
Edmonds is about a 20-mile drive north from Seattle.
